TRT’s Traction Air Product Specialist, Matt Counihan recently went through a CTI lines maintenance truck handover for Top Energy in their Kaitaia operations depot, New Zealand.
Top Energy NZ (the Far North lines and generation company owned by consumers connected to their line network) is going through the process of updating its ageing fleet of Lines Maintenance trucks.

TR Group has been commissioned to supply these new units. TR Group contracted one of Northland’s largest and oldest engineering firms - Ten4 Engineering in Whangārei to build to specification on a new Hino NZ 500 4 x4 Cab and GT1828 Chassis.

Part of this build was the installation of the CTI Traction Air system by Matt and CTI Technician Karl Robinson, on-site in Whangārei.

As part of the handover of this new vehicle, Matt introduced the CTI system to Top Energy senior management and operators. He explained how CTI works, how to use the simple touchscreen interface, and of course the benefits of the system out in the field;

Benefits of Traction Air include:

  • Improve traction
  • Reduce tyre wear
  • Reduce damage to road surfaces
  • Greater fuel efficiency
  • Improve vehicle and driver safety

Having already installed CTI on three of Top Energy’s vehicles – General Manager Contracting (Dave James) from their Kerikeri depot had great feedback regarding the system’s use - with his technical team endorsing its usefulness in the field.

CTI Traction Air system comes into its own, especially in rural locations, where line maintenance teams frequently drive into paddocks or fields, maneuvering on uneven and soft surfaces, sometimes in wet weather conditions, to gain access to damaged lines.
