Northern Rivers Stumping and TRT: Practical House Jacking Support

OVERVIEW

TRT assembled and tested a 12-jack Hi-Jack Double-Acting Hydraulic House Jacking Plant for Northern Rivers Stumping in Lismore, NSW.

The system was manufactured in-house in Hamilton, New Zealand, with a practical hydraulic setup that could run off the customer’s existing Toro Mini-loader.

SITUATION

Northern Rivers Stumping works in house relocation, where site teams need to raise buildings before the trailer arrives.

TRT drew on over 57 years of transport manufacturing experience for the house moving industry to supply a jacking plant suited to this work.

House jacking systems help prepare buildings for relocation by lifting them so a trailer can be positioned underneath.

Once the trailer is in place, the house jacks can lower the building, or the trailer can be raised to take the load.

CHALLENGE

The system needed to support safe, controlled lifting while keeping the truck and trailer moving.

It also needed to suit field conditions where buildings may have uneven weight distribution or unusual shapes.

For Northern Rivers Stumping, the setup also needed to work with their existing Toro Mini-loader as the hydraulic power source.

SOLUTION

TRT supplied a Hi-Jack Double-Acting Hydraulic House Jacking Plant with 12, 4-tonne house jacks.

John Kirby, Assembly Team Leader at TRT, assembled and tested the set before it went to Northern Rivers Stumping.

The 4-tonne jacks have a standard stroke of 1400mm, with the toe sitting 75mm above ground level.

The jacking plant was set up to run using the customer’s Toro Mini-loader, reducing the need for a separate powerpack.

TRT can also set jacking plants up with a petrol or 3-phase electric powerpack.

The jacks operate by radio remote, which keeps personnel needs low once the system is set up.

The double-acting system provides powered movement up and down, with individual jack control for more difficult lifts.

Northern Rivers Stumping received a jacking plant matched to its existing equipment and house relocation work.

The system supports faster turnaround by helping reduce downtime for the truck and trailer during loading.

It also gives operators more control when lifting buildings with uneven weight or unusual shapes.

For TRT, the project shows how in-house manufacturing and practical hydraulic design can support house movers in New Zealand and Australia.
