Ceres Environmental and TRT: Bringing Heavy Transport In-House

SITUATION

Ceres Environmental works across commercial demolition and asbestos removal in New Zealand.

Its fleet includes demolition equipment ranging from 1.2-tonne to 120-tonne excavators.

As the business grew, Ceres was working across more sites around New Zealand.

Relying on subcontracted transport became less practical as transport costs increased.

Ceres wanted more control over logistics, timing and access to equipment.

Bringing transport in-house became a strategic investment.

CHALLENGE

Ceres needed a trailer that could handle demolition equipment across a wide range of site conditions.

The trailer uses TRT’s Electronic Steering System to give Ceres more precise control in restricted spaces.

Robertson has said the all-steering capability suited Ceres because the team often works in tight areas.

The trailer can lift up to 1,500mm and drop down to 800mm.

It can also be steered without relying only on the truck driver.

A person outside the truck can control the trailer remotely while the driver pulls the unit forward.

Ceres spent three to four months evaluating options before choosing TRT.

Robertson pointed to TRT’s reputation, product knowledge and factory walk-through as key parts of the decision.

Before purchase, Jeremy Carden and Glen Harnett visited Ceres to measure machines and review potential trailer hazards.

TRT also supported the heavy haulage truck setup.
