Saturday 28th November saw the first of what will become an annual event on the Hamilton Calendar with 7 bespoke designed craft launched from Anne St bound for the finish line some 8.5 kilometres downstream for the Inaugural TRT Raft Race. Liberal interpretation of the rules saw a range of raft designs out on the water with varying success. At the end of the day a basic trimaran hull proved to be faster through the water than a deck mounted gazebo, or even a Christmas tree auxiliary. Fortunately the Waikato River was surprisingly warm for the many that were disinclined to maintain paddle power. This successful event culminated in the TRT Christmas party.
